Road Trip Socks Knitting Pattern | Fingering Weight Socks | Picot Hem | Self-Striping
I am thrilled to release my first sock knitting pattern! The Road Trip Socks are a beginner-friendly sock pattern featuring slipped stitches for a simple, but extremely fun knit. Pair up a special skein in your stash, or pick up self-striping yarn to make these quick socks. My wonderful testers have worked hard to create amazing socks and refined this pattern for you!
Details
The Road Trip Sock Pattern makes adult sized socks. The socks are knit top-down in the round with 2.25mm needles in sock (1) yarn. This pattern includes written instructions and requires knowledge of knitting terminology. Foot size measurements are approximate to the circumference of the ball of your foot: 8.5” (9.5”, 10.5”).

As someone who's only knit 1 or 2 pairs of socks before this, the pattern was easy to follow & fun to knit up. The self-striping yarn definitely helped a ton, wanting to get to the next color change and the slipped stitches offered just enough of an added detail without being complex.

Nic always has the cutest modeled photos, and this pair surely fits. The lightly variegated yarn with the cute picot edge makes for adorable ankle socks. Imagine these styled with a pair of Mary Janes!
Chose to do the picot edge and just a varigated yarn. There are other options that can be chosen. I find it nice when there are different constructions within a pattern. Even though there is a small stitch pattern (not just stockinette), I would say that this is still a pretty beginner friendly sock pattern. Something that gives a little something extra. I definitely want to make another pair with self stripping yarn. Really like how this first pair turned out!

Angela used my custom color for Dances with Wool during the Dogwood Fiber Trail this year to create this adorable sock. The lightly variegated yarn, Spring on the Path, compliments the picot hem beautifully.
Pattern does not specify to use different color for heel/toe but I purchased this yarn from Chronicles of Cheryl as a set and darn it I was gonna use it! The hardest part for me was matching up the folded cuff; I didn’t do a provisional cast on and I forgot to mark my first stitch, but once I got past that this is the kind of sock that is perfect for those times when you just want an easy, no fuss, easy to remember pattern. I do think this pattern would be really cool to use on striping yarn. I prefer short socks so I made mine ankle length, but this pattern you could easily make whatever length you want. It's perfect for person making their second ever sock and wants something with a little oomph.
