Materials You'll Need: 

Size U.S. 15 (10mm) circular knitting needles, 16 inches long 
1 cable needle 
Optional: Size U.S. 13 (9mm) circular knitting needles, 16 inches long 
Weight:  Super Bulky (6)
Recommended yarn: Lion Brand® Wool-Ease® Thick & Quick® Yarn 
or Malabrigo Rasta 
Yardage: 80-85 yards 
Knitting Gauge: 12 stitches & 12 rows = 5 inches in stockinette stitch 

 

Abbreviations 

K = knit 
P = purl 
PM = place beginning of round stitch marker
SM = slip marker 
P2tgt = purl 2 together 
K2tgt = knit 2 together 
SSK = slip 2 knitwise, knit 2 together through back loop 
Rep. = repeat 


Measurements 

18.5 inch circumference, 9 inch length, 9 inch width

INSTRUCTIONS 

Knitting the brim: 
With Size U.S. 15 circular needles, cast on 44 stitches. Join in Round. (For a tighter brim, cast on with U.S. 13 circular needles) 
Round 1 - K1 P1
Repeat Round 1 until work measures 2 inches. 

Knitting the body: 
Row 1 - *P1, K1* rep. 20 times, P1, SSK (43 stitches)

Row 2 - PM, *K1, P1* rep. 20 times, K1 
Row 3 - SM *P1, K1* rep. 20 times, P1

Rep. rows 2-3 until work measures 7.5 inches 

Decrease: 
Row 1 - SM *K1, P1* rep. 20 times, P2tgt  (42 stitches) 
Row 2 - *K2tgt, P1, K1, P1, K1, P1, P2tgt, K1, P1, K1, P1, K1* rep. 2 times (36 stitches) 
Row 3 - *K2tgt, P1, K1, P1, K1, P2tgt, K1, P1, K1, P1* rep. 2 times (30 stitches) 
Row 4 - *K2tgt, P1, K1, P1, P2tgt, K1, P1, K1* rep. 2 times (24 stitches) 
Row 5 - *K2tgt, P1, K1, P2tgt, K1, P1* rep. 2 times (18 stitches) 
Row 6 - *K2tgt, P1, P2tgt, K1* rep. 2 times (12 stitches) 
Row 7 - *K2tgt, P2tgt* rep. 2 times (6 stitches) 

Cut yarn, leaving approximately an 8 inch tail. Pull to close.
